What is identity theft?
Identity theft is when a third party obtains or possesses key pieces of information about your identity and knowingly uses it without your permission, and uses it to commit a crime.

What is covered under identity theft protection?
As part of your home, condo or tenant policy, your identity theft protection covers you for the following up to $10,000 in total regardless of the number of claims or insureds sustaining loss:

Legal fees
Lost wages during the time it takes to sort the issue out
Services performed by an organization hired by you to assist in addressing the effects of the identity theft

Possible savings of over $600 annually is based on survey responses of 10,586 customers who purchased an insurance policy with Sonnet Insurance Company between July 2020 and February 2021 in Ontario, Alberta and Quebec. 17% of survey respondents indicated that their monthly price with Sonnet was over $50 lower than what they were currently paying.
