Can you register a car without insurance in Ontario?

No. In Ontario, you must have proof of insurance in order to register your vehicle. You’ll need to provide the pink slip provided by your insurer.

Here are a few more things you need to register your car:

  • The ownership permit that shows you’re the owner of the car
  • Licence plates and up to date licence plate stickers
  • It must be confirmed to meet safety standards by a qualified mechanic
  • It has to meet provincial emissions standards by passing a Drive Clean test
