Can my car insurance be transferred if I’m selling my car to a new owner?

No. If you’re selling or gifting your car to someone else, you’ll need to cancel the auto insurance on the sold vehicle. The new owner will have to get their own car insurance.

However, if you have other cars on your policy or you’re replacing the sold car with a new one, there’s no need to cancel. You can simply remove the car you’ve sold, or remove it and add the new one.
