Yes, there’s a 30% surcharge if the main policyholder (who enrolls as a driver) doesn’t activate their account within 30 days of joining Sonnet Shift. This extra charge will be added to the driver’s premium once they are unenrolled from Sonnet Shift and move into a traditional auto insurance policy.
Keep in mind that this surcharge only applies to the main policyholder, not to other drivers in the Shift program. However, the surcharge will continue to affect them on any traditional policy where they are a driver – regardless of whether they’re the policyholder.
TIP! The main policy holder is often called the primary named insured or PNI. They’re the person whose name is first on the insurance certificate and who sets up the digital account.
Is there a way to remove the surcharge?
Yes, the charge will be removed if the main policyholder rejoins Sonnet Shift and activates the app, or when a set period has passed – whichever happens first.
