Does the discount apply to both my Sonnet home and auto policies?

It depends. Some discounts may apply to both your home and auto policies, while others may apply only to one. If you qualify for more than one group or affinity discount, we can only apply one discount per policy, but we’ll make sure you get the best price.

I already have a Sonnet insurance policy. How do I add a group and affinity discount?

If you’re already a Sonnet customer, you can add your discount online in a few simple steps:

  1. Log in to your account.
  2. Select the policy you’d like to add a discount to.
  3. Select Add discount.
  4. Select a group you belong to and enter the required details. Then select Add discount.
  5. Repeat this for each group you belong to. We’ll automatically apply the discount that gives you the best savings.
  6. When you’re finished adding your groups, select Add Group.
  7. Review your policy change, including any price updates. Select Update Policy.
  8. The discount is automatically applied to your policy. If we can’t verify your eligibility, we’ll remove the discount.

If you have multiple policies with Sonnet, repeat the steps above for each policy to add a qualifying discount.

I’ve saved a quote, now what?

If you’re happy with your quote, you can buy online – no call needed!

If you’re purchasing home insurance, auto insurance or both, the steps are a little different. In general, here’s what you’ll need to have ready:

  • Your coverage start date. Before purchasing your policy, ensure the coverage start date lines up with when you need insurance. Remember, you can’t change the coverage start date after purchase.
  • Your phone: For security, you’ll need your phone to complete our two-step verification. You’ll complete this process when logging in to your account.
  • The name and mailing address of your leasing, financing or mortgage company (if applicable). We require these details to complete your purchase, and it’s important that they are accurate from the start of your policy.
  • The payment method to purchase your policy. We accept credit cards (Visa, Mastercard or Amex) and Visa or Mastercard Debit.

After purchasing, confirm your email address. This will give you full access to your account so you can download your policy documents, including proof of insurance and liability slip.

If you’re not ready to purchase, we’ll save your quote for 45 days (as long as no changes are made) or until your selected coverage start date (whichever occurs first).

I tried to get a quote using my Kawartha Credit Union discount and I received a message that says you don’t have the right product for me. What can I do?

If everything you entered is correct and you received this message, we’re sorry that we’re not able to cover you at this time. Here are some examples of what we can’t cover:

  • Provinces and territories where we don't offer insurance.
  • Any home or auto policies where the circumstances aren’t “personal use”. For example, if you use your vehicle for ride share services, or you have too many tenants.
  • Certain locations (e.g. rural locations)/vehicles /drivers that require a specialized insurance, or a higher amount of insurance than we can provide.
